In Uxlabil, the old thing is shaking hands with the functional and contemporary. If you go up to the roof, you will see solar panels that allow heating the water, saving energy. Each apartment has a fully equipped kitchen, so all guests can feel like home; so multi-functional equipments in each kitchen were imported from Germany and it uses energy of 220 volts.

The interior of the building Uxlabil has multiple originalities. In the roof of the apartments you will see a mat carved in the concrete. The mat could be defined as poor people's mattress, something they put on some tables and use them as bed to sleep on; it is also something that the ladies and girls move for the house to sit down while they are working on their weavings. Here we have made something that wants to be a tribute to the popular culture: The mat is not in the floor but in the ceiling.

Uxlabil is one of the few constructions made using adobe in a systematic and deliberate way. It carries two purposes: A tribute to the popular culture that has used this material as basic element in the construction of houses and in second place, the adobe works as a thermostat inside a housing. When there is heat outside, the adobe absorbs this heat and it reduces the surrounding temperature. When there is cold, the inverse phenomenon is given. So the atmospheres surrounded by adobe are notably stable in its temperature. Don't worry if you have listened that adobe constructions are dangerous in cases of earthquakes, since the structures of this construction are 'antisísmicas' (against earthquakes) and they were taking care by professionals in structural calculation, as much in the design phase like in the supervision of the construction work.

The solar panels located in the roof take charge of picking up the solar rays, heat the water and to make it circulate through a serpentine and then stores it in 50 gallons deposits.
