In Hotel-museum Uxlabil Antigua, we offer an atmosphere characteristic of a mansion of Antigua Guatemala filled up with Central American, Guatemalan and a five generation family history that have inhabited it.

It is a small hotel (10 rooms) with unique atmosphere inside each one of them. The hotel has originalities such as: a lamp of more than 100 years old, long time ago it was in the Antigua cathedral, a bed of the King of Mosquitia, original paintings of half XIX century, these and much more.

Uxlabil values and thank the consultant-ship of the Hotel Santo Domingo.

In one of the rooms, you will be able to appreciate Mrs. Elvira's bed, also surrounded by history and rumors. It is told that the same one was occupied one day by Governor Don Rodrigo of Maldonado and was visited by the Saint Hermano Pedro.

In the living room of the Hotel-Museum, there are two paintings of great size painted sometime 1850 and 1860 by Toribio Jerez, famous Nicaraguan artist. In one of them he painted the Bishop De León, in fact their brother Rafael Jerez. In this painting there is an inscription that serves as story of the bishop's life. In the other painting the clergyman appears Julio Jerez, also the artist's brother.

Another of the objects of enormous value that you will be able to appreciate is the brass lamp hanging in the center of the room. This lamp used candles previously and not electric bulbs as it is in the current case. The same one lit a part of the Cathedral of Antigua many years ago. Made pieces and ruined, it was acquired by its current owners, taken to Nicaragua and from there transferred again Antigua.

In the superior part of the room you will appreciate a laminate superior of brass of Baroque style, which was acquired in Granada, Nicaragua. The same one probably came from France and it was before in the house of the grandparents of the current proprietors.

Something of significant value are the chasubles, used as much by the bishop as for the priest before mentioned. It can be observed in such chasubles the fineness and great quality of its fabrics, which represent Christian, images.
